Chest hair

Most of the concerns regarding unwanted Chest Hair come from men. For some men, Chest Hair can be a source of embarrassment, especially if it is excessively thick or abundant so it practically spills out of their shirts. Things get even worse during the summer, when men go to the beach with swimwear that does not go a long way as far as concealing this unwelcome abundance… The situation can become even worse since chest hair will impede tanning. On the other hand, we should not forget that for some people, chest hair is considered a sign of masculinity and virility.

Chest hair typically appears during late puberty, though for some men the onset of hair growth does not begin until their mid-20s or early 30s. While women do not typically develop chest hair, a condition called hirsutism, which is a hormonal imbalance, can initiate excessive hair growth.

Chest Hair Removal

Since Chest Hair is quick to grow, most regular hair removal methods are not very effective while trying to achieve a smooth and hair free chest. Tweezing, waxing, shaving will all result in clearly visible stubble, sometimes irritation and possibly ingrown hairs. Once you choose these methods, you will need to repeat the process regularly.

Laser Hair Removal and electrolysis are commonly used for permanent hair removal of chest hair, but these methods are also quite expensive. Waxing, Shaving and Depilatory creams take part in this endeavor with a slightly lower price tag, but a much shorter effective period.

Special care should be taken to the nipple area. If you choose to tweeze the hair around the nipples, make sure you grip the hair close to the root, and pull it gently, firmly and evenly. Do not yank the hair, as it may break and increase the chances for ingrown hair.

Chest Hair in Sports

Excessive Chest Hair can be a tremendous problem for professional athletes, especially swimmers. Chest hair can increase the drag created by the friction of the swimmer's body and the water, thus slowing the swimmer down.

Body builders may find that one of the most time consuming and frustrating parts of body building is getting rid of all that unwanted hair, but body hair removal is a must since excessive hair can hide a muscular physique.
